Comics!!

Two web comics that I'm following these days.

#1. My Cardboard Life: Amazingly cute and innovative idea this! Read the adventures of Colin (the cardboard guy) and Pauline (the paper girl).
I just love the expressions on them!!

#2. Agent- X comics: Created by Agent-X (doh!).. you can enjoy these comics only if you are into social media.
If you use twitter and facebook and the internet in general, then you'll love this series too.

Thank you internet for access to such lovely stuff.

Cheers!!

PS: Also reading the good ol' regular stuff like C&H and Animal Crackers, at GoComics. They have a huge collection!! =)

McNaughten's Rule Anyone??

I just happened to come across this interesting quote through the Cheeky Quote application on my side panel:

"It's good to know that if I behave strangely enough, society will take full responsibility for me."
-Ashleigh Brilliant

PS: I noticed that a lot of people land up on this post while googling up "McNaughten Rule".
One, I just found out that the spelling slightly different. Its McNaughton Rule (or M'Naughten Rule).
Two, here's the actual rule, "...it must be clearly proved that, at the time of committing the act, the party accused was labouring under such a defect of reason, from disease of the mind, as not to know the nature and quality of the act he was doing, or, if he did know it, that he did not know he was doing what was wrong."
More info on the rule at Wikipedia.

Ciao.

The Cookie Thief

This poem by Valerie Cox, is one of my all-time-favourite bits. Read it in "Chicken Soup For The Soul"....
The idea of "Perspective" has been so simply & easily conveyed here, that it manages to make me smile each time I read it.
_______________

A woman was waiting at an airport one night,
With several long hours before her flight.
She hunted for a book in the airport shops.
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.

She was engrossed in her book but happened to see,
That the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be.
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between,
Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene.

So she munched the cookies and watched the clock,
As the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, "If I wasn't so nice, I would blacken his eye."

With each cookie she took, he took one too,
When only one was left, she wondered what he would do.
With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie and broke it in half.

He offered her half, as he ate the other,
She snatched it from him and thought... oooh, brother.
This guy has some nerve and he's also rude,
Why he didn't even show any gratitude!

She had never known when she had been so galled,
And sighed with relief when her flight was called.
She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate,
Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate.

She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat,
Then she sought her book, which was almost complete.
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise,
There was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes.

If mine are here, she moaned in despair,
The others were his, and he tried to share.
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,
That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief.

*A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.
*A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.
*A diplomat is someone who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you will look forward to the trip.
*Borrow money from a pessimist, they don't expect it back.
*Few women admit their age. Few men act theirs.
*Hard work has a future payoff. Laziness pays off now.
*He who laughs last--- probably didn't get the joke.
